Welcome, DefendMarriage warriors of Jasper County, IA

This group is formed for the purpose of promoting traditional marriage and passing state and federal legislation to secure the common good of future generations. In particular, it is a tool for passing a strong marriage amendment for the state of Iowa.

The Pledge We Are Requesting From Elected State Officials Regarding The Iowa Marriage Marriage Amendment:

Believing that the rights of conscience are inalienable, it follows
that no Party -- Democrat, Republican, or otherwise -- should
dictate to its own duly elected leaders policy which violates the
will of the people or that of their individual public servants.

Hence, the people humbly ask their representatives to stand
with them in enunciating the true definition of marriage which
has stood for generations: one man and one woman only.
As the people's elected representative, we ask you to declare
your allegiance by pledging your support to codify an amendment
to the Iowa constitution which follows this formula in its
particulars:
an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa
specifying marriage between one man and one woman as
the only legal union that is valid or recognized in the state

Your sincere pledge will include every effort to bring this initiative to a roll call vote within your respective chamber of the legislature (House of Representatives or Senate, as applicable). Regardless of party affiliation, your pledge is to do everything possible for passage of this amendment which includes, if necessary, voting for a timely discharge from any committee to which it may become attached. No parliamentary maneuver which keeps this from the proper vote of the people shall be acceptable.

The people deserve the right to vote on this issue, and your pledge brings them a step closer!!
