Terrapin Mountain 50k & 1/2 Marathon, Sedalia, VA, USA

More and detailed info here: The 50k is Part of the Lynchburg Ultra Series and The Beast Series. Just off the blue ridge near Lynchburg. A very cool mountain trail run. Doc Wortley was instrumental in the clearing and establishing of this trail. Both races start at 0700. There is a 9 hour cutoff. Last year they gave out really cool finisher's mugs. If you've been racing for a while... Who really wants another race t-shirt!?! Or finishers' medal?!? (although, I must say, they look pretty cool). Go Run a mountain trail Ultra! do something!!! -Larry

A really cool trail. Bottom 2/3 is actually relatively flat (w/ a bunch of stream ravine horizontal curves), but the up and over trail along the ridge spine of the mountain is pretty steep in parts. At the top is a huge rock that kinda looks like a smiling turtle. I first ran it a few years ago, solo, during a lightish snowstorm. A really great trail! -Larry

Looks like this page is gonna disappear soon! The trail should be well worn after clearing ops for the race and the racers trample it down some. Should be especially easy to follow. Not sure if it is really on the typical tourist maps. Let me know if you need a briefing on how to get there, and how the trail actually goes. [masked] or find me on FB ateDocs
