Introduction to Ember.js and Unit Testing JavaScript

Details

JavaScript is everywhere and in July at dotNet Miami we've got two JavaScript presentations that will knock your socks off. Microsoft's own Rey Bango will present on how to build next generation web applications using Ember.js. Rey will show us how Ember.js helps the developer keep the source code in a clean, MVC pattern, while it leverages a rich object model and automatically updating templates, powerful and consistent bindings that support rich views that are able to accept events, and lots of extra addons. Jaime Allauca will also return to show us how it easy it is to add unit testing to your JavaScipt code. If you've never seen JavaScript before, if you haven't touched it in years or if you are fluent in JavaScript this is an event you must attend!

We will also be giving away more books, swag, and more one-month subscriptions to PluralSight.

Because we don't want the fun to stop when the meeting is over we'll be at Miller's Ale House on Miracle Mile (101 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables) for food and networking. All are welcome.

Session and Speaker Details:

Introduction to Ember.js

There are a lot of JavaScript libraries available, and most are really good at providing the traditional DOM-centric interactions that your typical websites need. But when it’s time to build a manageable code base for a single-page app, that’s where a whole suite of new frameworks come in to smooth things out. Ember.js solves these problems and gives you a solid framework for building the next generation of web applications. This session will give you an introduction to all of the fantastic things that Ember.js does and how you can use it in your own apps.

Rey Bango is developer evangelist at Microsoft focused on meeting the needs of the web development community. He's an advocate for cross-browser, standards-based development using JavaScript & HTML5 and a former member of the jQuery Project Team.

Unit Testing JavaScript

Jaime Allauca is an application developer at Independent Purchasing Cooperative. For the last three years, Jamie has spent a disproportionate amount of time playing with dynamic languages like Javascript, Ruby, and Python. He has also played advocate on several occasions to influence .NET web developers to embrace Javascript on the client-side.
