What: The Decisive moment - Straight Street Photography and photography 101

When: Sunday, April 18,[masked]:00 PM

From Wikipedia:
Pure photography refers to photography that attempts to depict a scene as realistically and objectively as permitted by the medium, renouncing the use of manipulation.

Founded in 1932, Group f/64 who championed purist photography, had this to say:
"Pure photography is defined as possessing no qualities of technique, composition or idea, derivative of any other art form."

We'll be meeting at 1:00pm on Sunday (pending the weather..) to spend about 1/2 hour discussing the practice of "Street" and "Straight" photography, after which we'll be going out as a group to photograph moments and scenes. The goal of this workshop is to discover your "eye" and the style of composition you're drawn to (It's amazing how 10 different photographers can shoot the same scene with 10 different results.

After the shoot, we'll be sitting down to go over what we've shot, and how we've composed it (I'll be bringing my laptop.

The Rules:
NO FLASH
NO REFLECTORS
You MUST use either a prime lens, or leave your zoom at one setting for the entire day! There's a reason for this that will be discusses prior to shooting.

We'll be meeting under the Washington Square Arch (at the southern end of Fifth ave) then going around from there. If you can't find us, call me at[masked]

Cost is a meager $7.00 via paypal, or $8.00 at the shoot.

If there's enough interest, I'll have some "models" available to help "set up some shots (read: CHEAT!)
