Cleveland Drum Circle Meetup Group Weekly Meetup

This is an open, free-form circle, usually without facilitation. A drummer usually starts a beat and others join in, as they wish. There are some extra drums and percussion - currently 2 djembes and 2 ingoma drums - first come first served. We try to keep it simple, at first, so beginners feel comfortable. Intermediate, advanced and professional drummers will take leads and solos, once the rhythms are in synch.

Sometimes a professional or intermediate member will teach some free, beginner rhythms to the group, at the start of the circle, then open jamming takes place.

Participants come and go during the two to four hours during the circle. Beside drummers, we occasionally have wind instruments, guitars, dancers or hoop dancers join us. Many people just come to watch, listen and enjoy the drumming, sitting in the church pews. We encourage visitors to participate or watch.

Church chairs/seats are available or bring your own.

Enter our cold weather location, St. Colman Church from State Route 2, the Shoreway, from the east side - just west of downtown Cleveland and head right to exit W.49th St. go left at the first stop up to Detroit and make a right turn on to Detroit. Then a left on W. 65th Street. Church is on the left at Madison. FREE small parking lot south and north of the church and on all streets. Rest room and water are available. Many circles are also lit by candle light in winter. Bring tea lights and holders, if you wish. Love donations for web site service and church charities are appreciated.
