Drum/Dance at Yoga Shala (N. Williams)

Greetings movers, shakers 'n all ye rhythm-makers!

Bring your drum
And your restless feet
As one we become
Hearts shall open and meet

Tap your fingers
And sway to the beat
As the rhythm rises and lingers
Together we feel more complete

Come alone or bring your friends. You don't have to be a drummer to come; come just to watch or listen. And if you're a drummer, all skill levels are welcome. And feel free to bring other acoustic instruments -- didjridoo, flute, guitar, harmonica, whatever.

Microphones and PA will be available for people who would like to sing or for use with other soft instruments.  We will also have a few 'Toyboxes' full of other percussive noise-toys and some extra drums for sharing.  If you have extra instruments to share, please bring them.

As for dancing, you DO NOT need to be a trained dancer (although we do have those from time to time) to get up and move to the beat. As long as YOU are having fun dancing, anything goes.

It's great to see the drummers, didj players, and dancers all playing off of each other.

Don't be a spectator, PARTICIPATE. YOU are the show!

KIDS ARE MOST WELCOME!!

Please support our use of Yogashala space with a suggested donation of $2.00.

I'm the one who announced about the World Rhythm Fest in Seattle that's coming up on April 5-6. It's free and awesome--lots of drumming and dancing classes to try out each hour for 2 days. Here is the website with info: http://www.swps.org/
Anyone want to carpool and possibly rent a room together near Seattle Center (where it happens)? I'm planning to go up Friday and return Monday.

Hey folks--please contact me ([masked]) if you are interested in going to Seattle next weekend for World Rhythm Fest. We need to set plans by Sunday. We want to carpool up on Friday and then drive back Sunday or Monday.

Hi, Megan. I sent you an email through Meetup a few days ago. I am taking the train up on Friday and returning on Monday, so I won't need to carpool, but I'd love to catch up with the group while I'm there.

Dear People, because of my recent back distress, I'm not able to bring my load of rhythm instruments and drums by myself. Would someone being willing to come to my house and help me bring these to the jam and take them back to my house afterwards? I live in North Portland, close to Columbia Park and Univ. of Portland. To get the instruments to the jam on time, you would need to be at my house by 6:15 on Sat. No need to reply in this forum, you can email me with the email link on my profile page.
    Thanks very much.

Hey Lydia! Should be as soon as it warms up and the rains recede. Most likely by the end of May or early June... or even sooner. Meanwhile we miss you and the little man!

Hey friends! What a nice circle tonight. I enjoyed drumming and seeing old and new friends. I had a down day and this really lifted my spirits.

Last week was my first visit to this drum circle and I had sooooo much fun! I haven't drummed in a while and it was just what I needed. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. I can tell I'm going to enjoy coming again and again. Thanks everybody!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
