The Boulder Drupal Meetup

Come on down to the Denver/Boulder Drupal Meetup for our next meeting at AppliedTrust!

We have two exciting presentations lined up this month!

Brian Goodheim will be sharing his experiences exchanging information between Drupal and ASP.NET.  "Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet." ... But in fact Brian was able to unite these distant partners using a combination of XMLRPC services and good old fashioned screen-scraping.  Come hear his tale from the trenches!

Aaron Ott will give us a rundown on Drupal Apps - this is a perfect followup from his presentation last month on Installation Profiles.  Find out how to package complex functionality for fun and profit... hurray for code reuse!

As usual, AppliedTrust will be providing tasty dinner and drinks!

    Hey, Aaron!

I just signed up for the next meeting presentation spot! Pitch: Do you like Drupal but hate having to go out and find all of your different modules? Me too! That is why I use Drupal Distributions! It's like popping popcorn in the microwave as opposed to the stove top. Same great taste, less time to pop the love right into your month. !! Thought !! Future presentation (Distribution - eCommerce) A quick chat on advice on finding sale tax information how to set it up in Kickstart and why you should invent in a good accountant in order to keep you out of jail (Yes, that is worth the Naan alone).

Buzz: DevOps What is it and how much can you get paid?

Calling all Drupal Ladder 8 contributors! We need to start that back up on Thursday nights! Pleeeeessssee!!

Good and varied presentations at this meeting. Brian, the work on your Drupal related product is impressive. However, perhaps less intensive and complicated means could be deployed, to meet the end product you are developing for. I do admire your stamina with this project though!

Thanks to everyone for your patience/indulgence/tolerance of my services presentation. From the comments I received afterwards, my take-away is that xmlrpc services overhead may not be worthwhile for the scale of data transfer I need. At this point, my php experience consists only of reading a book, but I am ready to dive in and try to roll my own module for data and file exchange from my .Net application. If anyone can provide suggestions, guidance, or examples to follow I would be mucho appreciative. And as always, thanks to Ned and Applied Trust for hosting. -Brian

Just signed up, but wondering if it's a good fit. I'm a student and staff member at CU Boulder. I'm a beginning Drupal sitebuilder - made a few sites already - so I have a beginner/intermediate knowledge of Drupal. Are theses meetups pretty in-depth and high-level, or do you think I may still be able to benefit from it?

Karyn - we're getting tasty authentic Italian from Pasta Jay's.... what is better than garlic bread and Drupal?

Any chance you'll be streaming the presentations or making them available afterwards? Interesting topics but don't think I'll be able to get there in time.

Sarah - unfortunately we don't currently record the presentations. We probably should and will start doing so, but that will probably come with some downside of more formality and less comfort asking questions. Regardless, we sure hope you can join us in May!!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
