Drupal 101

  • Sep 11, 2012 · 6:15 PM
  • MATRIX Resources, Inc.

This month and next, we're trying out a new training idea that we're calling Drupal 101.

We're going to hold 2-hour long beginner class at the same time as the monthly ADUG meeting.

We've found that a lot of user group members are nervous about attending because they're new to Drupal and fear that the level of discussion might be over their heads.

The goal of these two Drupal 101 classes is to take those Drupal newcomers and quickly help them to become active, comfortable members of the main user group.

About Drupal 101

Lead by Steve Burge of OSTraining, these two beginner classes will cover the basics of Drupal from content to modules and themes.

September 11: Introduction to Drupal, Installing Drupal, Drupal content types and fields

October 9: Drupal modules and themes.

These will be hands-on classes. You'll be actively working on a Drupal site throughout the training.

How to Take Part in Drupal 101

  1. Register on this page.
  2. Turn up to the Atlanta DUG as normal, on September 11.
  3. Bring a laptop.
  4. Install and copy of Acquia Dev Desktop on your laptop. Instructions are available for a Mac and for a PC.

As a marketing person I learned a lot about DRUPAL plus more on how it fits into BUSINESS. This information increases my ability to influence business prospects decisions on interactive internet marketing and website development.

Very informative. Really helped to fill in the gaps of my self taught knowledge. I especially liked being able to do the exercises along with the instructor, who made all of us feel comfortable with asking questions. Also appreciate the suggestion to load Acquia Dev prior to the meetup so we were prepared.

Well done. There was a good turnout and the material covered was exactly the foundation I am looking for.

This is a great idea, especially with how daunting Drupal can seem just starting out. I wish I could swing by, but I've got class that evening.

No problem, Eric. Hopefully we can do this again in the coming months.

I am really looking forward to this. I always want to learn more. It will also help me spruce up my own site.

Steve, I cannot attend, but I think it's awesome that you're offering this service to the Atlanta Drupal community. I'm referring lots of friends.

Thanks J T, that's much appreciated. Given the search for a new venue, I can't say when we'll do it again, but we'd certainly like to, given the response to this first run.
