Interactive Drupal/AngularJS App Hackathon

Details

STLDUG's First Interactive/Hackathon!

This month we're switching things up and hosting our first ever interactive Drupal meetup/hackathon. Join us as we hop on the Headless Drupal (http://friendlymachine.net/posts/headless-drupal-it-just-might-be-bigger-deal-twig) bandwagon and collectively build an app that exemplifies how Drupal 8 can work seamlessly with other technologies (such as AngularJS (https://angularjs.org/)).

Goals:

The goal of this event is for those in attendance to walk away with a better understanding of:

How Drupal 8 can be used as a backend/api to interface with various front-end applications AngularJS and how similar front-end frameworks can be used in conjunction with backends such as Drupal to build awesome applications quickly Tools such as Grunt (http://gruntjs.com/) & Yeoman (http://yeoman.io/) that make scaffolding & deploying apps a breeze Agenda:

6:30p-7:00p - Refreshments & Snacks (Proudly sponsored by Relay Technology (http://www.relaytechnology.com/)). Please arrive early if you think you'll need help getting your machine set up 7:00p-7:15p - Intros, we'll briefly go around and get to know each other 7:15p-7:30p - Hackathon review - We'll discuss the particulars of the app we're building 7:30p-9:00p - Let the hacking begin! Prerequisites:

While we hope that everyone will get their hands dirty, we highly encourage everyone of all skill levels to attend. Our group is very passionate about sharing knowledge and seeing the tech scene Attendees who do wish to code have two options: Ensure that their machine is equipped with recent versions of git, MAMP/WAMP/LAMP stacks, node.js, grunt.js Use a pre-configured Vagrant (http://www.vagrantup.com/) box (found here (https://github.com/geerlingguy/drupal-dev-vm)) that is already set up to have a local server running Drupal 8 in no time. We'll also try to have a copy of the box file on hand for folks who don't have time to set it up in advance Questions:

Feel free to ask any questions here and we'll do our best to answer asap. Hope to see you there!
