New to downtown/greater LA (and who isn't these days?)? Looking to get to know some of your new neighbors? Looking to get out of the city and up into the hills occasionally? This group is for downtown/greater LA residents (and well, let's face it, anyone else!) who like hiking and want to meet others who do as well. And although we do love to hike, we're also drawn to some of the more random non-hiking activities that downtown/greater LA and its surrounding areas have to offer. So keep an eye out for the occasional totally odd social outing, such as Mexican Wrestling at the Mayan or Women's Roller Derby near Echo Park.
We hike mostly on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and weekends, and mostly close to downtown/greater LA. That means a lot of Griffith Park and the Hollywood Hills, though occasionally we'll head farther afield for some longer, tougher hikes. Plus, every once in a while we'll try to do some "urban hiking" as well.
Random social events can and do occur pretty much any time. We'll try to post events as early as possible so we can figure out details like getting tickets and such ASAP. If you know of any particular hike or random event that you want to offer up to the group, by all means let us know!
We're not a "hard core" hiking group. We believe that having fun while hiking is just as important as getting some good exercise. And dogs are always welcome (except in prohibited areas) on our hikes. So get off that couch, get outside, and come join us for some exercise and FUN! :-)
