What we’re about

Welcome! Come out and join us!
We have a very strong, consistent, and responsible sport riding group and we hope to continue that tradition. Join us on  Sunday mornings for coffee and bench racing, then take a ride, if you like,  in our beautiful Colorado mountains (sun, weather, and temperature dependent)! Times and locations may vary throughout the year so check out our event calendar for the latest...
The ducatimotorclub (DMC) is Denver's only officially recognized Ducati Desmo Owners Club.  Become an official member of DMC today and get all the benefits of being in an officially recognized Desmo Owners Club. Membership in this Meetup does not automatically enroll you in the DOC but it is a first step.
The ducatimotorclub at times co-hosts televised motorcycle roadracing events throughout the year at various venues- with a LARGE EMPHASIS on promoting MotoGP/WSBK and MOTOAmerica events specifically. Join other motorcycle roadracing fans and support your favorite riders and/or teams on select weekends!

ALSO join fellow ducatisti on scheduled nights in the Denver area for happy hour "socials" and bench racing.  The venue changes from time-to-time so please check our event calendar for the latest info on weekly events.
Contacting us is easy. Just send us an e-mail or request membership here. Come out and meet various members of the club for a drink or a ride and see if you like us. For more specific details on our group riding functions, event calendar, and association to our club- join today! Your request will go through an approval process (for privacy purposes) and we will let you know the latest news! European bikes and enthusiasts preferred.
Join our facebook fan page (www.facebook.com/ducatimotorclub) today and get to know other members immediately- as well as share your pics and riding stories with the group!

While, at first, I understand that "rules" make most of us want to roll our eyes and go our own way, Sport Bike riding in groups, over a period of years has shown me that a couple of simple "Rules of the Road" can go a long way towards improving safety without impeding our fun factor.
This is a short list that has been used for years with remarkable success.

Remember: You, and only You are responsible for your safety at all times. At no time will anyone in this group be responsible for your actions or safety.
Requirements for Participation:

  • You must be licensed and insured to operate a motorcycle.
  • You are expected to have proper riding apparel and equipment which includes at a minimum, a D.O.T. approved helmet, motorcycle specific jacket, leather boots that cover the ankle, leather gloves and jeans.
  • Your motorcycle is expected to be in good mechanical condition, no leaks (including fork seals) Tires should have at least 1/16 tread remaining, brake pads should have at least 20% lining remaining. Drive line parts must be in good condition and properly adjusted.
  • Participants must ride with the D.O.C. in a manner that does not create a hazard to themselves or others. Mature and courteous riding habits must be observed when riding with the D.O.C. or when displaying the D.O.C. logo.

Rules of the Road,
Another look at our standards.

All participants are responsible for themselves and for riding at a pace that they are comfortable with. There should never be any pressure felt to keep up with the group. Route changes are never made without the entire group. You will never be pressured in any way to "keep up".

  • The pace on a ride will be determined by road and traffic conditions.
  • Concentrating on a smooth riding style will compensate for many of the dangers of riding on the street. Avoiding hard, late braking when entering corners and maintaining smooth exits will improve our riding skills and reduce our risks at the same time.
  • When riding with the group, maintain at least a two second gap between you and the rider in front of you.
  • Wait to begin your pass of other vehicles until the rider in front of you is completing his pass (generally a 1.5 to 2 second delay). Pass only from the left, (inside) groove of your lane. Practice considerate passing behavior at all times.
  • If the rider behind you flashes his headlight, move to the right and hand signal him to come around.
  • Passing on the right of the rider in front of you, while sharing the same lane, is not allowed at any time.
  • Be aware of the headlight behind you and notify others if that rider is having problems or has pulled over.
  • Signal the rider in front of you if you are leaving the group for any reason, and make sure your signal has been received.
  • When within 3 seconds of each other, maintain a staggered formation at all times.
  • It should go without saying that alcohol and drugs are not a part of what we do on motorcycles.

People like us are the image of Sport Motorcyclists in Colorado. It is up to us to maintain a positive image to the non-motorcycling population. Coexistence with social and legal boundaries is the key to the longevity of sport motorcycling.
