Greetings, Imperial Sand Dunes fans!
The largest mass of sand dunes in California, the Imperial Sand Dunes stretches along the eastern edge of the Imperial Valley for more than 40 miles, varying in width up to five miles and rising to heights over 300 feet above the surrounding desert floor. The Coachella Canal, fed by the Colorado River, borders the west side of the Dunes, while the Union Pacific railroad runs along the eastern edge.
From a playground of ever-changing sand formations to picturesque scenery for viewing plants and wildlife, the Imperial Sand Dunes offers something for everyone, duners and non-duners alike.
