Düsseldorf Expat Meetup :: Change for 2010 :)

From: Dinesh N.

Hello folks! How are you all?

The June D?sseldorf Expat BBQ is almost up on us! The weather is not looking great right now but we're still optimistic that it will clear by Sunday smile Please remember to check your email or Facebook Sunday morning for confirmation that the BBQ will go ahead, we're keeping our fingers crossed for nice weather.

I would like to take this opportunity to announce a change in the way D?sseldorf Expat Meetup will be organized in the future, a change we planned in January. There will be a new main organizer for the D?sseldorf Expat Meetup from September, after two years in the driver's seat I'm giving the steering wheel to Mark Jessop smile Don't worry, I'm staying here for the forseeable future

I really enjoy every moment of being part of Expat Meetup and enjoy helping make these events happen. I've been very lucky to be given this role, it provided a fantastic opportunity to meet many wonderful people like you. Although I could continue in this role for a third year, Expat
Meetup will benefit more from this fresh change. Mark is an ideal successor; prior to moving to D?sseldorf he spent 3 years in Paris so he has experienced being an expat before. He appreciates the difference D?sseldorf Expat Meetup can make to all members and he has ideas about how to take this community of international & local people forward.

I have more to say but it's for another time smile I would like to introduce Mark, our future Expat Meetup organizer, and he has written a few words which are included below. Before this, I want to express my deep gratitude to all staff at O'Reillys Irish Bar who have supported D?sseldorf Expat Meetup since MargaretGorman began organizing the first events in 2006. Danny, Mark and all staff past & present at O'Reillys have been fantastic in helping us host these events. The longevity of Expat Meetup is also due to them, I appreciate very much everything they do to help us. Thank you very much O'Reillys.

Now a few words from Mark:

-----------------------------------

Hello everyone!

Dinesh has already introduced who I am, and I've met many of you already, so I'll not add any more details about myself. I'm sure if we haven't met already then we will soon, hopefully at the BBQ in the park on Sunday 13th!

As Dinesh has already mentioned I will take over in September but along with Caro, Patrick and Pedro, we've been able to help out here and there over the last few months. As a result of my experiences here in D?sseldorf, and my travels elsewhere, I have a good idea what is expected from the meetup events, although I'm open to any suggestions or requests!

I hope to be able to continue the great work from Dinesh, with the help of
Caro, Patrick and Pedro I'm sure we can.
See you all soon!

-----------------------------------

Hope you're all enjoying a great weekend and the World Cup coverage! Hope to see you all this Sunday or soon!

All the best,
Mark, Caro, Pedro, Patrick, Dinesh (D?sseldorf Expat Meetup)
