Ride Leaders and Riders Responsibilities

Ride Leaders

Ride leaders are not trained experts on planning or leading group rides, but experienced riders with the knowledge on planning and leading safe group rides.

Ride Leader's Responsibility

  • Designate the meet up time, spot and arrive early.
  • Plan the route, including the stop points. (rest/food/fuel)
  • Knowledge of potential choke points and road conditions.
  • Know the hand signals and be able to demonstrate them to other riders.
  • Set a pace that meets the skill level of all the riders.
  • Look ahead and anticipate any hazards.

The ride leader has no control over yours or anyone else’s motorcycle, thus they’re not responsible for any actions that happen behind them. We all ride at our own risk.

Rider's Responsibility

  • Make sure your motorcycle is in safe working order and full of fuel.
  • Operate and maneuver your motorcycle safely.
  • Knowledge of the meet up time, spot and be there on time.
  • Knowledge of the full planned route.
  • Use hand signals and be able to demonstrate them to other riders.
  • Maintain the pace set by the leader or inform the leader if the pace is above your comfort level.
  • Give the proper distance while riding in a staggered or single-file formation.

When you ride solo you are solely responsible for yourself and your motorcycle. Group rides require you to take on other responsibilities as well. Other riders are depending on you to keep them safe by riding responsibly.

Henry

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
