The Orlando Eckhart Tolle Meetup Message Board › Stillness Speaks Camping - Itinerary
This itinerary is to be used as a guide only! (Thank you again Indy!) I'm sure some of us aren't early-risers (I know of at least one person that isn't!), so I can quite easily see there being more than one "sunrise" meditation session... (and if you wish to meditate on your own, or not at all, that is fine too!)
Please remember that this outline of activities is for suggestions only... we will definitely take each moment as it comes... you are always free to participate as much or as little as you would like. All you need to do is be present. :)
Friday November 9th
Arrive at Rainbow Springs before sunset!!! Give yourself time to set up the tent. This park is only 1 ½ hour away from downtown Orlando. Our site should be ready by 3:00 pm so if you want to arrive around that time it is perfectly fine.
♦ “Sharing is Caring!” ~ Bring food to share with the rest of the group for that first night. Get ready for our first campfire!!!! We could always do a BBQ and we all can bring something for that. Post your thoughts about this. Anyone volunteering to bring the s’mores?
♦ “Relax around the campfire” ~ this first campfire will be the official start to our weekend so let’s make it extra special. Let’s begin this gentle journey by reading “Stillness speaks” around the fire.
Saturday November 10th
♦ 6:00 am ~ “Rising with the sun” Let’s go on a short morning walk and let’s catch the sun rising in between the trees!
♦ “Breakfast time” ~ While the early risers went for a morning hike, volunteers stayed making a delicious breakfast.
♦ 9:30 am “Hiking as you wish” ~ we will start by taking an easy walk to the nature trail that winds back behind the gardens through natural oak hammock and sandhill communities. This trail offers both river and phosphate pit overlooks and is approximately 2.5 miles long from the Visitors' Center. If you want, you can go back to the tents and enjoy the rest of your morning as you wish. The rest of us will go on to enjoy an additional 2 mile hike. There is no rush or competition of any kind. This is not intended to be a sports activity so as a group we will find our pace and rhythm. Bring water and snacks. TOTAL WALKING DISTANCE: Approx. 5.5 miles
♦ Enjoy the rest of the day in any way you want. Some people might be too tired from the earlier hike; some other people may feel the desire to do something else. The abundant water in the area leaves lots of opportunity for all kinds of activities. Go and enjoy one of the most beautiful natural resources of the park by canoe or kayak on the Rainbow River. Immerse yourself in the Real Florida as you leisurely pass through moss-draped cypress trees, river otters, wading birds and numerous other sights and sounds along the crystal clear water way. If you are not tired of walking, the gardens and waterfalls at the park are cultural assets that remain from the days when the headsprings were a private attraction. They have been renovated and replanted while preserving their historical significance.
Keep in mind, the option of sitting around, reading a book or taking this opportunity to contemplate your surroundings is always there. Take it!
♦ 8:00 “Campfire and Dinner” ~ we need volunteers for hotdogs and burgers. Please send a message to the organizer about what you are bringing, 2 weeks before he will post a revised list so everyone can see what everybody else is bringing.
♦“Night walk” Let’s all go for a short easy hike and lets enjoy a beautiful night under the stars.
Sunday November 11th
♦ 6:00 am “Rising with the sun” ~ Early short easy walk.
♦ “Sunrise Meditation” ~ Let’s officially close our journey with a short meditation
♦ There is no set wake up time to have breakfast but we must be checked out by 11am. You are welcome to remain in the park until it closes on Sunday.
