What we’re about
We’re so glad you’ve joined us! EcoSpirit started back in 1999 with one simple idea: bring people together in the outdoors to share adventures, learn new skills, and build lasting friendships. Over the years, members have explored trails, paddled rivers and oceans, biked mountains, and camped under the stars — and many of us are still close friends decades later.
Now you’re part of that story. 🙌
🚀 What to Expect
- Outdoor Adventures: Hikes, paddles, rides, climbs, camping trips — everything from beginner-friendly outings to multi-day adventures.
- Community Spirit: We’re more than just an event list; we’re a group that supports one another, celebrates the outdoors, and grows together.
- Member Perks (starting Jan 2026): For just $12 CAD/year, members get unlimited events, monthly Adventure Weekend prize draws, sponsor perks, and access to shared safety gear like our club Zoleo satellite communicator for remote trips.
🏕 How to Get Involved
- Join an event – It’s the best way to meet people and get a feel for the group.
- Introduce yourself – Share your favorite outdoor activity or a place you’d love to explore.
- Step up as an organizer – Our club thrives when members lead events. We’ll support you with event templates, training, and even rewards (like free memberships and an annual organizer prize giveaway).
🌊 Bonus: Adventure Weekends in Sechelt
From May to October 2026, founders Murray & Liana will host monthly Adventure Weekends at their oceanfront wilderness property in Sechelt. Paid members who attend events will be entered into monthly draws for spots, and organizers automatically earn invitations. Expect kayaking, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, and evenings by the fire.
Welcome aboard! You’ve joined a community built on friendship, adventure, and respect for the outdoors. Whether you come for the hikes, the paddles, or the people, we’re excited to share this journey with you.
See you outside,
Murray

•OnlineReflections in the Darkness – A Quiet Night Beyond Resolutions
Online(Self-guided. Any night during the long nights of December is right.)
***
### Description
This is not a New Year’s resolution.
There’s nothing to optimize, fix, track, or become.
While the world rushes toward goals, plans, and “next versions,” this night does the opposite.
It pauses.
Reflections in the Darkness is a single, standalone night of quiet reflection offered by the EcoSpirit Adventure Club. We call it Night One.
Instead of setting intentions or pushing forward, this night focuses on:
- acknowledging what has already been carried
- allowing things to complete
- releasing what doesn’t need to come along
- making space before movement begins again
No productivity.
No self-improvement.
No pressure to feel anything in particular.
You can do this alone, at home, with a cup of tea, a candle, or simply the dark.
There’s no schedule and no “right” way to do it. Any evening between December 26 and January 1 works.
If you’re curious, the reflection and a little context live on the EcoSpirit website. We call this a single night because it stands on its own.
It also happens to be the first night of a longer, seasonal practice we return to each year. There are twelve nights in total, each with a different quality of attention.
You don’t need to know the rest. Night One is complete by itself.

If this isn’t your moment, that’s completely okay too.
This is simply a quiet counterpoint to the noise of the season.
A chance to stop before starting again.
Go to the website and take what you need at your own pace.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!1 attendee
