Hi all! Great to meet some of you at the Stanford LDT Expo.

I wanted to inform you all of the next EdTech Webinar that will take place on Sept 5 at 12pm PT. Register now & get more info below on the exciting lineup of presenters!

The EdTech Webinar on "BYOD"
September 5, 2012 at 12pm PT

BYOD, an acronym for 'bring your own device,' is a growing solution to reduce school costs and foster student engagement using devices students already own. Many call the BYOD movement inevitable, while others argue that this trend introduces distraction and threatens to widen the gap between the haves and the have-nots. In this EdTech webinar, speakers will explore several pros & cons, present case studies, and share personal experiences implementing BYOD strategies in K12 and higher education. Don't forget to bring your cell phone for maximum engagement! We'll be crowdsourcing feedback, doing some fun trivia and giving out prizes for those who participate.

The Presenters:

Tim Clark: If you've done any research on BYOD or BYOT (bring your own technology), you've probably come across Tim Clark's name. Tim is responsible for the BYOD policy implementation in Forsyth County Schools of Georgia. This year, all 36 schools in his distrcit are BYOD! Tim is also the founder of the "BYOT Network" and weekly Tweetup. Follow him for amazing tips & resources @BYOTnetwork.

Jason Bazylak: A Professor of Engineering at the University of Toronto, Professor Bazylak will reflect on his first year with BYOD in a university setting. Professor Bazylak authored a paper "Take Out Your Cell Phones -- Class Is Starting," exploring the pedagogical potential of cell phones and supporting their use in class. Follow Professor Bazylak on Twitter @profbazylak.

Cara Lyons: OnlineColleges.net's Cara Lyons is responsible for the awesome infographic you may have seen floating around the twittersphere "Why Go BYOD." She will be presenting the infographic along with an analysis of higher ed schools with BYOD policies. Follow OnlineColleges.net for additional beautiful infographics @oncolleges.

Suzanne Holloway: Suzanne is the community manager at Top Hat Monocle and the organizer of the EdTech Webinar series. Suzanne will be hosting the webinar on BYOD, presenting an overview of the trend along with its benefits and constraints. Got a specific question you want answered in this webinar? Tweet to @tophatmonocle (it will make her day).

Hope to see you there. Register now!
