I just wanted to get this quick email out to everyone to ask you to pray for a couple of things today/this week:
First, LOCALLY: please pray for our friend Magenta. I mentioned at cohort last Tuesday that she was in the hospital the previous week with stroke-like symptoms. She had an MRI last Thursday that revealed a "slight abnormality," but they wouldn't tell her what that meant. She's having more tests done today, so please pray for God's peace as she goes through this, for a clear diagnosis by the doctors, and ultimately for a sign of God's kingdom through her complete healing.
Second, GLOBALLY: please pray for Darfur, Sudan. As you may have heard, the situation there continues to worsen. Switchfoot lead singer Jon Foreman recently wrote, "Can it be possible that right now, two and a half million people are waking up in camps and refugee camps having been driven from their homes by violent means? Under the same sun, could it be true that almost half a million people have died of starvation, violence, and disease over the past six years in Darfur? Is this true?!" Sadly, it is true, and because there has been little intervention, Foreman and others are now fasting to raise awareness and to call for action:?http://fastdarfur.org/
Locally, Steve Cook from Equitas is organizing a three-day water-only fast, May 20-22, which kicks off with a prayer gathering this Wednesday, 12-1 p.m., at the Billy Graham Library Garden. You can read Steve's efforts here:
Here's an invitation to the Wednesday prayer gathering from Ryan Grammatico (Watershed Church):
I hope you can pray today for Magenta and for the broader concern of the people of Darfur. Thanks!

P.S. Plans for a Memorial Day picnic/cookout/gathering are coming together ... Watch for an announcement about that SOON!
