Learn how to create a low-water, urban permaculture paradise in the center of the city. This half-acre site is set on an urban canyon near downtown San Diego and has over 25 fruit trees, herb, native and butterfly gardens. Primarily irrigated with greywater and rainwater tied to earthworks and bioswales, all water remains on site to build soil and produce food. There are three greywater systems, five rain tank systems, huglekultur, bioswales, rain gardens, a prefab modular meditation hut, clay pizza oven, earthen hut project and more. The homestead uses small amounts of water, energy, or other inputs, while still offering a lush, abundant edible landscape for the owners and visiting species. Come see simple, smart living in action. Future workshops: Greywater Reuse; Hands-on clay plaster; Spirit House Design; and a 7-day, earthen hut construction project in the city.
