Craft Night: Make a Hydro Planter

Details
Join Beth & Joanna, founders of Pop Gardens (http://popgardens.com/) to make your own hydro planter. Come turn a 1 or 2 liter soda bottle into a planter, to breathe new life into your space. You'll get to construct a planter, decorate it to your heart's content, and plant seeds. We've sewn fabric at Craft Night many times, but this is the first time we've gotten to sow seeds!

As school teachers, we wanted to create an engaging plant study for kids that could easily be used in classrooms or at home. Recycled 2-liter plastic bottles are transformed into simple planters perfect for watching the whole life-cycle of the plant from seed to harvest. Approximately 2,500,000 plastic bottles are thrown away each hour in the United States. It's a staggering amount of waste. We also want to teach kids how critical it is to be aware of what and how much we consume. We think PoP Gardens are a great way to up-cycle an everyday object, turning garbage into something new and beautiful. They are a science project and a garden rolled into one.
PoP Gardens aren't just for kids. Anyone can grow a fabulous windowsill herb garden year-round indoors or use them outdoors in the spring and summer. Our home kits has everything someone needs to get their garden going. All you need is a little light and a lot of love.
All ages & skill levels are welcome at this free Craft Night. All supplies will be provided.
