Berlin-based "post-migrant" theater makes its American debut with two plays reflecting on Turkish immigration and integration in Germany

Ferienlager ? The 3rd Generation (American Premiere)
November 17 & 18 at 8 pm

Klassentreffen ? The 2nd Generation (American Premiere)
November 20 at 8 pm and 21 at 4 pm

9th Space @ PS122
150 First Avenue @ 9th street, NYC

What stories can be told about the real lives of migrants that go beyond the worn-out integration debates and stereotyped musings on identity and belonging ? and how can these stories be brought to the stage? The acclaimed Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, located in the multicultural neighborhood of Kreuzberg in Berlin, brings to New York its "post-migrant" theater. The plays will focus on two different generations of immigrants and what it means for each of them to "make it" in a country coming to terms with its ethnic and religious plurality. Both works are dubbed as ?documentary theater,? in that all performers are telling their own stories, and will be presented in German with English subtitles. For more information.
SPECIAL MEET UP OFFER: $10 for one show. $15 for both shows. To order tickets: or

In Ferienlager -- The 3rd Generation, 10 young adults, still labeled as migrants although they were all born and raised in Berlin, reflect on their place in society and the pursuit of their individual interests with a candor as liberating as it is engaging. Watch a video.

Klassentreffen -- The 2nd Generation is a montage of highly personal vignettes culled from the lives of six German Turks ? including the Green party politician ?zcan Mutlu and the long-standing president of the Islamic Women?s Association, Emel Zeynelabidin (who, four years ago, took the radical step of taking off her headscarf). Watch a video.

The guest performances of Ferienlager ? The 3rd Generation and Klassentreffen ? The 2nd Generation are presented by Kulturspr?nge@Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, as part of the project Reflections on Muslim Immigration in Germany, in collaboration with Deutsches Haus at NYU, supported by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany New York, funded by Ausw?rtiges Amt - Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany.
