Hi everyone,

 

Best wishes for the new year to everyone! I took over as the organizer for this group in Jan 2012 when the earlier organizer stepped down. I relocated to Mumbai from the US last year after being away for 14+ years and had joined this group to network with other expats. Since I'd been away for a long time I found myself having to start all over with making new friends and acquaintances.

 

There have been a number of discussions on the message board of this group to talk about what the group should do. I propose the following:

  • Let's make this group about networking and meeting other new and interesting expats who've moved to Mumbai.
  • We can meet for a variety of activities whether it is getting cocktails at a nice lounge, watching improv or standup, or maybe just hanging out at a cafe in the city, suburbs, wherever.
  • Meetup's can be proposed by any member and if there is enough interest (3+ RSVPs) they will automatically be announced to the entire group.
  • Ideally it would be great (while we get the group going) that meetup's be proposed as early as possible. So if you know that a great band is going to be playing at The Blue Frog then announcing it early will help get the word out sooner so we have a good number of expats joining.

 

In my experience with meetup's in the past, it takes some time to get things going. But as we have meetups and make direct connections with each other, we'll have more opportunities to meetup and find more expats meeting up.

 

Let's start proposing meetup's at interesting events and locations and see where things go!
