Glacier Rock Instahike #exploreTNQ

@TropicalNorthQueensland are hosting an instameet on Saturday, 19 March, 2016 with local lad & keen hiker, Mike Webley AKA @thewob__!

Glacier Rock is a popular hiking spot that starts at Stoney Creek and ends with an insane view over Cairns and the Northern Beaches, atop Glacier Rock. This Instameet is perfect for people who live in Cairns or are visiting the region and who like to get outdoors, take a bunch of photos & brag about their adventures on Instagram!

The day:

6:45am – Meet at Stoney Creek carpark (Look for the Tropical North Queensland car) for a quick welcome by the #exploreTNQ crew

7:00am – Lace up & hit the track with @thewob__

Approx 8:30am – Reach the top of Glacier Rock, take your happy snaps & replenish those fluids! There's full mobile reception at the top for those who can't wait to gram the view!

Approx 9:30am – Land back down at the bottom & cool off in the refreshingly cold waters of Stoney Creek Falls

What to bring:

• Ensure you carry adequate drinking water.

• Wear sunscreen, a hat, protective clothing and sturdy footwear.

• Wear protective clothing and insect repellant for protection against stings, scratches and insect bites.

• Your cozzie's if you're coming for a post hike dip

Warnings:

• Select walks to suit your fitness and experience level—you need to be a fit and experienced bushwalker to walk the longer tracks.

• Stay on the walking tracks and take care on rough uneven surfaces.

• Stay clear of cliff edges and steep rock faces, and carefully supervise children

• Be careful at creek crossings—water levels can change rapidly.

• Be aware that stinging trees are found alongside the walking tracks. Never touch this plant as it may result in a very painful sting.
