Nordic BOHO Charity Fashion Photoshoot

  • Nov 3, 2012 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Come join us in supporting our Children's Cancer Research fundraising program by participating in the Nordic BOHO Fashion Photo Shoot! We have the special opportunity to be shooting at a Northern VA Aplaca farm known as Captial Alpacas in Vienna. If you don't know what an Aplaca is, it kinda looks similar to a llama.  These unique gentle creatures will make breath taking scenery and co-models for our nordic fall fashion looks. Since it will be a bit chilly out we will be arranging to have an RV brought out to the farm so models and volunteers can get prepared and stay warm.  This event will help us produce quality material that will keep our sponsors interested and wanting to donate on a regular basis to our fundraising program for Children's Cancer Research. We'll also be collecting $10.00 donations when you RSVP to support our charity fundraising program.

Fashion Definition:

Nordic fashion is inspired by ethnic prints and patterns from Northern European countries.  In this fashion style we have meshed Nordic prints with bohemian fashion to create unique layered looks that combine different fabric textures such as chiffon, suede, distressed leather, wool, fur, lace, and sweater materials for a refreshing fall look.

Models will also be asked to be prepared by choosing your wardrobe in advance and submitting photos of you wearing it to [masked] by Tuesday October 30th 11:59 PM so that we can approve your wardrobe choices, or help you improve them.  If you need assistance with wardrobe or can't find anything to wear, contact us immediately and we'll have a stylist help you find something to wear.  Don't let not having wardrobe prevent you from coming, we're here to help you get what you need, so please contact us!

We should definitely redo this shoot in the spring when its warmer! Now we have an idea of what to expect when working with these animals. I think a fashion theme with soft and feminine touches would be nice. Let me know if you all have any ideas!

I had such a great time! I had so much fun with the alpacas. I met some really awesome people too. I wish it wasn't so cold out. But all in all what a great experience!

This was one of the most fun photoshoots I've done! I think the models were really prepared and very easy to work with. Our make-up artist was such a joy to be around and he really came through for us on short notice. The photographers had great patience in working with the animals, which is such a challenge to get them to do what you want when you want. The fashion concept was different, and I think everyone got very creative to pull it off to make this a unique and memorable shoot! Everyone was pretty much on time, and the shoot flowed very nicely with a great upbeat pace without taking up the whole day unnecessarily.

Hey everyone! I had such a wonderful time! It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones like AJ, Amber, Shahana, and Phim aka Magic! Special thanks to AJ for coming out to help with make-up and hair last minute! Travis and Magic, you all are amazing for working out in the cold continuously (even when the models ran inside for warmth breaks) and for having patience with the alpacas. Miss Patricia, the farm owner was so enthusiastic and worked really hard to get the alpacas to cooperate during the photoshoot, so we are eternally grateful to her for allowing us this wonderful opportunity & inviting us back! The models were such a great bunch, you all came prepared with accessories and shoes, required little direction, and were such great sports with the chilly climate. I hope everyone had fun, I can't wait to get pictures posted, and I hope to work with you all again in the future.

Models, please bring a variety of flats and boots with you. Styling shoes for this shoot is a bit challenging, so we're going to have to play around with it. Grey, brown, tan, and blacks are good colors. Also bring a warm coat, it's going to be chilly! Also bring tights, stockings, leggings. We have some, but we want to make sure we have enough to go around that will fit your different body types. Questions, call[masked]!

Another great photo shoot. Right now I'm working on my shot list, checking battery levels and making light stand weights. I'm arriving with the models and make up artist to scout the location and set up my lighting. Any photographers looking for help let's meet and get set up.

I just checked the weather report and it looks like it's going to be mid 50s, sunny with partial cloud cover and 0% chance of rain! PERFECT! Be sure to bring a warm coat so you don't get cold, it'll be a bit chilly, but I think we'll be good to go since the wardrobe for this is warm too. If you are a model and have not sent me your sizes, and height and need wardrobe (which should be everyone because I have no submissions from anyone), then get on the ball and email me so I can plan to bring you an outfit. The farm owner is very excited about us coming! She is going assist with getting the alpacas positioned in our photos and help our models to interact with these cute animals :) She also would like to be featured as a designer for our online shop, so we'll be modeling her products so we can sell them on the site. Part of the proceeds from the exclusive designer sales go directly towards our current charitable cause! This is going to be an amazing event. We'll have access to a changing room and bathroom. Parking is free too!

Looks like we have a great group of people going here! Models, you are not expected to come out of pocket and buy clothes for this event. If you need help with wardrobe, email me and we'll find you clothes and have a stylist put together the look for you! I need to know your sizes, height, and if you're allergic to anything like wool or fake metals. [masked]
