This is an official study group of the Association for Renaissance Martial Arts, where we study and practice European medieval and renassance martial arts from authentic original sources:

As a martial art, it is practiced with as much realism as is feasible. It also means that it is not a passive art like some Asian '-Do' arts, nor a sport like modern boxing, wrestling, or MMA, nor a performance art for the stage, screen, or renfaire, nor a Live Action Role-Playing group (LARP), nor is it an exercise class like Kwando, sword aerobics, or similar classes. It is also more historically accurate and serious than sword-sparring groups like the SCA, and as such we don't have dual-membership with other groups. What we study is the historical reality of combat from that era, backed by science, research with original historical training manuals, and practical experience. If you've ever looked at European weapons and armor and wanted to learn the real thing, this is it.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
