A very special event, a very special speaker:
Jerry DeWitt,
Executive Director, Recovering From Religion
We have an unexpected, but very wonderful opportunity...FFRF – VSUN is proud to introduce our speaker, Jerry DeWitt. He is the first graduate of The Clergy Project and is starting a new organization, Recovering From Religion www.recoveringfromreligion.org (http://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/). He has started speaking engagements in his new role and will be featured at the Reason Rally, March 24th, in Washington DC www.reasonrally.org (http://www.reasonrally.org/). The Reason Rally is being billed as the Largest Gathering of the Secular Movement in World History – The Atheist Woodstock!
We will meet at 5:30 PM at the Home Town Buffet, 1312 N. Scottsdale Rd. Scottsdale. Eating is optional, but if you plan to have the all-you-can-eat Sunday dinner buffet, please tell the cashier you are here for the FFRF meeting and get our special discounted price of $10.00.
I hope you will make a special effort to come out and support Jerry. Bring a friend… maybe someone who has doubts or is trying to recover from their own dealings with religion, or maybe someone who would just like to hear someone’s personal inspirational journey.
And finally, when John Compere, VP FFRF-VSun, told us about The Clergy Project, many of us asked how could we help support people making these huge life transitions. You can give a tax-exempt donation to Jerry DeWitt’s Recovering From Religion organization at http://recoveringfromreligion.org/pages/Donate . In addition, we plan to have a ‘Contribution Jar’ at the meeting so you will also have a chance to put something in the kitty to help Jerry’s project. And remember, The Clergy Project is completely funded by The Richard Dawkins Foundation http://donate.richarddawkins.net/donations/new?cause=rdfrs&country_code=US , and our very own Freedom From Religion Foundation http://ffrf.org/donate/ .
See you there!
