What is lifedrawing? It is the artistic study of the nude human figure from observation of a live model. In my opinion, it is the best way to learn how to draw.
The studios I post meet at either the Dougherty Arts Center or at the Austin Visual Arts Association.
Tuesday and Thursday morning figure drawing studios from 9:30 am to 12:30 require an RSVP.
Wednesday afternoon studio also requires an RSVP.
The Sunday afternoon, Monday evening and Thursday evening studios are first come/first served.
So, for my Tues/Wed/Thurs. studios: Please RSVP!!!! An rsvp is a commitment that you are indeed coming. If you change plans, change the rsvp ASAP, even if you are just on the Waiting List.
Model fee is $5.00. CASH only, no checks. Yes, I accept change. Must be 18 or over.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, no oil paints or solvents. I have more than one participant with either asthma or chemical sensitivities. Acrylics and watercolors are ok at both locations.
Thursday, Sunday and Monday are oil paint friendly, but you must use odorless solvents.
I have set up an rsvp system because I am not comfortable with the room filling up with what I consider too many people. Two reasons: 1. I want everyone to at least be able to see, and 2. above a certain number, I do not consider the room to be safe. I want everyone to be able to exit safely in an emergency. Hey, I'm a mom, I think of things like that.

LIFEDRAWING CLASSES:
The Dougherty Arts School: http://www.austintexas.gov/department/dougherty-arts-school
Austin Museum of Art offers a life drawing class, not an open studio. Not for
Cordovan School of the Arts in Round Rock: http://www.cordovanarts.com/
The Art Institute of Austin: http://www.artinstitutes.edu/austin/about/
ACC offers life drawing classes for college credit. So do St. Ed's & UT. Concordia offers drawing classes, but I do not believe they have lifedrawing. UT now only allows its art majors to take studio classes. And, good luck getting into the program!
