LIVE MUSIC BY & KAY PROUDLOVE & KYM STATON6pm-6.30pm
KAY PROUDLOVE
http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/8/9/7/b/600_447395195.jpeg
Kay Proudlove is an Australian singer-songwriter armed with an acoustic guitar and a bunch of wordy songs. Taking influence from a range of genres, Kay’s indie folk style is hybridised with a touch of jazz and a hint of musical theatre. From performing on the stages of iconic Sydney venues such as The Basement, The Standard, The Red Rattler and Camelot Lounge to the down and dirty festivities of The Illawarra Folk Festival (2012, 2013) and The Blue Mountains Music Festival (2013), her audience is as diverse as her repertoire. A display of honesty, story telling and a general acceptance of awkwardness, Kay's live performance is much like being invited to her lounge room.
Kay’s latest release ‘Finding Words’ is the product of combining an honours recording project with two semesters worth of coffee. Focusing on the storytelling qualities of indie-folk music, the collection is an eclectic mix of home truths like Drunk Girl Vow and fantastical relationships as heard in Tin Man. Offset by the more serious and reflective tones of Better Than Letters and Go Away, Finding Words is an all encompassing and striking collection of songs.

Kym Staton
http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/4/f/c/600_433349948.jpeg
Kym Staton launched into the sydney singer/songwriter scene in 2012 and has attracted a steady following after performing many gigs at intimate venues around Sydney including The Factory Theatre, The Newsagency, Dome Bar, The White Horse, Broadway Lounge, and lots of small cafes and bars. He has a unique sound that is both exotic and earthy. His repertoire is an eclectic concoction of blues, jazz, folk and celtic covers, weird old songs and unusual originals. His rare rock tenor voice goes from subtle to soaring in a heartbeat and his exquisite interplay of captivating vocals and a deft touch on a telecaster must to be heard to be believed.
