Redondo Beach, CA
Announcing a new Meetup for SoCal Fit Force (Fitness/Figure/Pageant Competitors)!
What: Bike Ride to the MUSCLE BEACH INTERNATIONAL CLASSIC!
When: Monday, May 30, 2011 9:30 AM
Where: Del Rey Lagoon Park
66th Avenue & Pacific Avenue
Playa del Rey, CA 90293
Let's enjoy a wonderful bike ride through the marina and along the beach this Memorial Day!
As we leisurely bike through Marina Del Rey and Venice, we'll enjoy views of boats, parks, and of course, the beach! It's a 5-mile trip one-way. For a map of our route, go to --
MEET at 9:30AM at Del Rey Lagoon Park in Playa Del Rey. We'll be at the parking lot driveway at the intersection of 66th and Pacific. We'll start our bike ride PROMPTLY at 9:45AM. We'll probably arrive at Muscle Beach around 10:15AM.
If you don't have a bike, considering renting one for the day. One-day rentals on beach cruisers are just $20 at Sport Chalet locations in Marina Del Rey, Huntington Beach, and Torrance. You can pick it up the night before, and return it after our ride the next day. OR if you want to rent the morning of our ride, the Marina Del Rey location opens at 9:30am. You can then ride over to a spot along our route in Yvonne B. Burke Park to meet us around 10am. (If you want to arrange this meeting spot with me, be sure to send me an email to coordinate!) Go to SportChalet.com for store location directions.
The sights and sounds of the Venice Beach boardwalk are entertaining enough. But there is also the MUSCLE BEACH INTERNATIONAL CLASSIC going on -- Bodybuilding, Figure, and Bikini competitions (prelims at 10am, finals at 1pm, FREE). Elaine Lalanne will be there for a final tribute to JACK LALANNE. Actor Ryan Phillippe and boxer "Sugar" Shane Mosley will be presenting the Muscle Beach Hall of Fame Award to Rich Gaspari.
So watch the show, check out the fitness vendor booths, explore the boardwalk shops, catch the entertainment by local "street performers." The choice is yours...enjoy any or all of it!
Between preliminaries and finals, we'll likely gather at one of the boardwalk eateries to have lunch. We might even consider biking to the legendary Firehouse if we'd like to partake in their healthy (competitor-friendly) options.
We'll probably start our bike ride back to Playa Del Rey around 2 or 2:30pm.
Be sure jot down my number to text/call if you can't find us!
Check it out!
