Getting the Best Performance in Flash/AS3

Want to squeeze the absolute maximum performance out of Flash Player? Want to wring the highest, smoothest, most consistent frame rate Flash Player can deliver? Tuesday night, GameHouse developer Benjamin Colwell will discuss how to get the most from the Flash Player. Hint – think optimized graphics and the comparative advantages of using either the Display List or blitting.

Benjamin Colwell is an ActionScript 3 developer who has been programming for over 10 years, and working with Flash since Macromedia Flash MX. He is currently an engineer at GameHouse working on casual Facebook games, including recent Webby award-winner Collapse! Blast. Thanks Roger! I'm glad everyone enjoyed the meetup, it was a great experience for me to present and share these techniques with the group.

I've sent a couple of .zip files with the sample code to Diane and she should be posting them soon. I encourage everyone to check out the it's an updated (and working!) version of what I was trying to do on my laptop yesterday.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
