I grew up in a fundamentalist Christian household, and identified as a Christian until I was 18 years old. During my undergraduate years, I was exposed to more and various world views, and gradually grew away from the faith. I delved into philosophy so I could learn how to live well without religion.
I identify as an atheist and skeptic. I am hesitant to take the "humanist" label for various reasons, which I'd be glad to discuss over a beer. While I find these labels useful for helping people understand my basic positions, I think they are too broad to be entirely adequate. I usually like to spend some time defining what these terms mean to me, and why I prefer them over others.
All of the above. Seriously, there's nothing I'm not interested in discussing. Except music. Please do not talk to me about music. :)
I'm up for pretty much anything, although I am far too busy with school to spearhead any activist work. I would be glad to support such efforts in whatever way I can, though.
I'm a 23-year-old student pursuing a MA in Philosophy at Colorado State University. My primary research interests are political philosophy, religion, science, and ethics.
