This is note to let you know about a few things happening with SOJO and around the area.
First of all, there seems to have been an increase recently in mail and replies going to the group, so we have decided to return the mailing list to the "moderated" list that we had several months ago. What this means is that messages sent to the list must be approved by an organizer before they will be sent out to the rest of the list. This will eliminate nuisance messages such as out-of-office replies and allow us to filter out any off-topic or inappropriate messages sent to the list. You can still send messages to the group, and if they are appropriate we will pass them on to the list.
Sometimes, we get messages that may be of interest to the group but are not directly relevant to SOJO Meetups. Examples of such messages would be announcements of folk-related events, information about classes, and similar. I have posted a poll on the Meetup site that will let you give us feedback on what we should do with these messages - forward them to the list, post them on our message board, or both. You can also send feedback on this to me directly if you like. You can find the poll under Polls on the Meetup page: The DC Area Folk SOJO (Sing Out Jam Out) Polls
Third, SOJO! We have one coming up next weekend - Saturday June 7th at the Crystal Plaza Apartments in Crystal City! If you haven't RSVP'd yet, you can do so here: A Tune For June
I hope to see all of you there!
Fourth, the 4th (of July, that is). If we keep to our regular schedule of the first and third Saturday of the month, our first SOJO will be on July 5th. Since a lot of people may be traveling or have other plans that weekend, it has been suggested that we might want to reschedule one or both of our Meetups in July. We have a poll on that topic as well, so you can give us some feedback. See: The DC Area Folk SOJO (Sing Out Jam Out) Polls
. Once again, if you'd prefer to give me your feedback directly, please feel free to do so.
Lastly, I do have an upcoming event to announce that is not a SOJO event but may be of interest. I'm including it here since I'm sending you all an e-mail anyway, so this does not constitute an extra e-mail. If you are not interested in such information, you can stop reading now. In the future, we will be guided by your wishes with regard to event announcements. The following information was sent to us by a member of SOJO. This event is not sponsored or endorsed by SOJO or its organizers, but may be of interest to you.
