Come find out how you can get involved...

We're back...

After a lengthy hiatus we have some very exciting news to share with everyone. Thanks to months of work by a handful of members, we now have available to us:

- A Space: A large workshop in West Footscray already being used by a handful of artists, builders, designers and the like. FML will have access to a sizeable portion of it for our needs with plenty of room to grow for future requirements of world domination.

- Organisational Structure: We are in the process of incorporating and have a solid idea as to how we want to run and manage projects, people and the space.

- Membership options: Whether you have a project, want to help someone else on theirs, help with the organising or are just happy to lend a hand at a working bee there are clearly defined ways for almost anyone to get involved.

Simply put, we now have a purpose, governance structure and some resources (e.g. space) to help make it all happen. But we need people to come and be part of the community.

Please come to find out how you can be involved!

Note: The 'Lab' is at the back end of the complex. You will need to walk to the back end of the warehouses (through the drive way), turn right and then go through the roller doors into the building. If you have any problems finding it, call Ilija on[masked] or Jose on[masked]

Hi guys, I'm looking for a space where I can silk screen print. Is this something that the Maker Lab could incorporate in future do you think?

Sounds excellent BUT first. I could be out of date again but silk screen printing used to be a serious respiration hazard. I hope Cate already knew that. If not, get some expert advice b4 setting up.

Hi Dave and Jose, thanks for your responses, much appreciated. I'm about to start silkscreen lessons with a friend who lives in Warburton... so I'll do that for a bit and find out the story in terms of the inks/respiration, and also the set up. I just know even now that its something I'd like to do closer to home (ie in the city)

I'll be able to get back to you and give more info when I'm a bit further along. Let me know when you a have a Meetup and I'll come along and say hi!

      Cheers

More than 5 people came but SchoolMarmy Meetup only knows about who RSVPed & is then marked on the roll. I don't know what happens if you keep RSVPing "Yes" & not attending but Meetup asks about this & reports your attendance record. Presumably poor attendees won't get an elephant stamp & may not be invited to the prom.

I can't make it today, but I've already been working on stuff with Martin in this space, I'm totally keen to be a part of it.

Mondays usually good for me, except this and next. This one particularly bad as I've got commitments early morning thru evening.
