Foraging food is an ancient skill - one could say the oldest. Yet not many people today know how to do it. A small number of people have kept this vital skill-set from vanishing and it is a good thing. There are many reasons to seek this skill in the modern world. Beyond survival in a SHTF scenario, the naturally growing foods are more nutritious and the very act of gathering fosters a connection to our past and helps ground us.

I do not have the requisite skills currently but I am gaining contacts with instructors who do. Showing interest by forming this group will help get things off the ground.

"I am an avid gardener giving up on my own food growing until the drought is over and now turned to foraging nature's free garden. I need help of fellow forager's to hopefully prevent poisoning myself. I'm not techno savy so no facebook/twitter acct."

"I would love to learn more about edible and medicinal plants! Our backyard is almost grass-free, having been taken over by 'weeds' and I suspect many of them are edible/medicinal, but need help identifying them."

"Hi, I'm Rob Hanna and eager to find what's tasty on hand across the land. Willing to learn, observe and offer the occasional wise crack now and then, nothing personal just habit and too much sugar."

"We always called this Gotcha Vine, as it was always getting us. I do believe the tender new growth is edible."
