Announcing a new Meetup for The Fort Myers Area Kayaking Group!

What: Labor Day Camping @ Fisheating Creek

When: September 4,[masked]:00 AM

Where:
Fisheating Creek Campground
7555 US Highway 27 North
Palmdale, FL 33944
[masked]

It is almost Camping Time!

Fisheating Creek is one of the prettiest creeks in Florida, it is located about an hour drive from Colonial Blvd and I-75. Take SR80 to Labelle and turn left on 29, which runs into 27, turn left and the campground is about 1/2 mile up on the left.

We are planning another fun camping week-end! We will be kayaking, swimming, fishing, playing games, sitting by the campfire, relaxing in the hammocks and just enjoying the beauty and nature of the creek. There will be lots of great food including some of our specialties of s'mores, pudgy pies and biscuits cooked over the fire. There is a lake with a swimming area.

The creek should be up this time of year so kayaking should be great. I love this campground because we can kayak right from the campsites. A night paddle will probably be in the works this time again.

I have sites P5, 6, & 7 on the creek reserved for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. These are tent sites and are quite large, parking is right at the sites. They do not have power or water but the bathrooms are close by. The campground allows 2 tents and 6 people per site but we have not had a problem stretching this a bit in the past wink. Especially if people do not plan on staying the whole weekend. The first 8-9 tents to sign up are welcome to share my sites. After that you will have to make your own reservations. Those staying on the sites I have reserved will split the cost of the sites depending on how many nights everyone stays. I am not sure what the current cost of the sites is, last time it was $15 per site per night but I have a feeling the price may have been raised since it is not listed on their site. I doubt it will be more than $20 per night per site. Whatever it is, it is a bargain. biggrin

When you RSPV please let me know..
- What days you will be staying ?
- If you have a tent and the size of it or if you may need a place to sleep ?
- If you have space in your tent to share ?

So Far I have the following information for those coming.

Darlene & Robert - Friday noon-ish thru Monday - Large Tent
Karen & possible friend - ?? - Small Tent
Phil ?? - Med. Tent
Ken ?? ?
Lori ?? - Med. Tent
Mister Ed ?? - Small Tent
Linda ?? ?
Nanette ?? ?
Carol & Hubby ?? ?

We usually share food and a couple weeks prior I will send out a food list for everyone to sign up for what they would like to bring. It has worked out great in the past.

Our normal menu is ....
Breakfast - Eggs, bacon, biscuits, pancakes, omeletts, sausage, etc etc
Lunch - everyone usually does their own thing
Dinner - whatever we decide but one night of burgers and dogs, possibly steaks, chicken, pork or suggest something.

Bring your own drinks and don't forget your coffee cups.

Phil is our firewood man cool and I have some logs from last time and will get some small starter wood again.

I you don't want to spend the night.. That is OK, we would love to have you come up to paddle and visit, swim, fish, enjoy the campfire, relax in a hammock, cook out with us, etc. Please note on your RSVP when you are coming so kayak trips can be planned accordingly. There is a nominal fee for day people to enter the campground, check in at the office.

See our past events at FEC for pics and info.
