Masonic Wellness - Weekend Biking and the Health tip of the week

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
Mariners #67 of GLNY
invites all brothers and sisters to a regular Weekend Biking event on the scenic Manhattan bikeway along Hudson River.
Regular Weekend Biking is part of the Mariners 67 initiative for Masonic Wellness. 
This initiative aims to promote ideas about
Better    Physical Health,
Better    Nutrition and
Sharper Mental Fitness
among Masons and their families.
The biking weekend is also an opportunity to meet with fellow Masons and people interested to join Freemasonry. 
We meet around 4:00PM to share our bicycling experience and for light refreshments:
On dry and worm days ��� at the Picnic Tables in front of Pier 66 (26th Street @ West Street)
It is next to Frying Pan Bar from where you can buy drinks and food and use bathrooms.
On rainy and cold days ��� at Bowling 300, Pier 60 (23rd street @ West Street), at the tables near the Games Area.
The health tip for the week of Oct. 23-Oct.30, 2009:
Bicycling is a great way to get around in a congested traffic of city like New York City but the most natural physical activity for the humans is running.  In a study conducted by scientists from MIT, quoted on documentary about the training of runners for the Boston Marathon, humans have better endurance in running long distances then most other mammals.
On the distance of[masked] kilometers (26 miles 385 yards, or exactly 26 7���32 miles) - the Olympic Marathon distance, humans outrun well known runners like horse and cheetah.  Most Animal Species known of their ability to run very fast are fast runners only on short distances.  Their heat muscles break if they are forces to run longer distances and they die of heart attack. 
Many scientists believe that the human ability to outrun on long distances most other animal species have been developed over thousands of years and have been major factor for the survival of the human race.  
Until relative recent historic time, the average human had to travel around 50 kilometers (31 miles) every day.  For this reason running is the best physical activities that keeps the human cardio-vascular system in good condition.
