So it is easier for people to get to, we will meet out front of the Safeway on Osborne in Osborne Village for 10:30am.

I am only aware of 3 people needing a ride, so that means everyone else has their own car they are driving? If this isn't correct, let me know ahead of time.

    Passenger spots are limited.

I decided to try something a little different for this meet up and see how things go.

Hike Bird's Hill Park – Day Trip

    Saturday, July 6, 2013

We shall meet at the Safeway on Osborne. (They actually have a Tim Horton's inside Safeway.)

    • 10:30am departure time
    • Hike trails and then have a picnic.
    • Pack up and leave by 4pm.
    • Return and Drop people off at the Tim Horton’s.

Carpool spots are limited - *$6 charge to those that require a ride, payable before we leave.

***Amount of carpool spots available depends on how many want to drive others out to the meet up.

Those that can drive members there & back let me know.

    List of things to bring:

    Food item for a picnic

    Proper shoes for hiking

    Portable chair

*Note: The $6 charge is so no one is taken for granted.

It encourages people to drive others and share the cost for gas and Park entrance fee with who they drive, and is a real deal for others to be able to get out and have a day away at Bird's Hill Park, when they wouldn't be able to otherwise.

     MAP: http://www.mapquest.com/maps

Directions to Bird's Hill Park: Take Highway 59 northeast of Winnipeg then turn east onto access road off ramp. The Park off ramp is about 12 km northeast of the highway 101 off ramp. (It is located 24 kilometres north of Winnipeg on Highway 59.)

(Margaret said she can drive some people if we need)

Too bad! But it wouldn't be so great to drive all the way out there and not be able to do our walk and picnic. Darn weather is not cooperating for today!

I am sitting outside right now on my deck and this weather report sure seems wrong. It is beautiful outside. Still it will remain cancelled.

Sorry about that everyone. I don't like canceling meet ups, but I get a feeling it is the right thing to do today. Tomorrow at Kildonan Park we will be going for a walk at 11am and if all goes well, having an impromptu picnic around noon. You are welcome to come to that.

It's down to four people. Are you all interested in going still. Let me know please.

So do we go rain or shine?

    July 4, 2013

    • Stacey

Good question. If it is a thunder storm, no sense in that. I don't want to be walking through mud and eating in the rain. If it is just grey and cloudy, I think we should still go. Does that sound fair?

I won't need a ride anymore, Stacey. I'm heading out of town this weekend. Have fun!!

  • David I.

    That's fine for me.

    July 3, 2013

Would it be better if we all met at the Safeway off Osborne in the Village instead? There is no Tim Horton's conveniently on the way, unless we go to the one on Beaverhill which is far out by the Mint.

    • Stacey

David and Michelle, is that a good place for you two to get to?

      1 · July 3, 2013

  • David I.

    I will need a ride.

    July 2, 2013

  • Michelle

I would need a ride. Sorry I was out of town.

    July 2, 2013

  • Stacey

So is it true that no one needs a ride?

    July 2, 2013

  • Stacey

Are you all taking your own vehicle? Or does someone need a ride?
If you don't request a ride, I will assume you are going in your own vehicle. So let me know.

I have had requests for outings that take us out of the city, and so I thought I would try that this year. For the trip to Bird's Hill there is 9 so far. Is everyone taking their own vehicle? Or do you need a ride? Spots are limited for a ride, so I would like to clarify what the situation is. Note whether you need a ride or are taking your own vehicle please. Thanks!
