Oh I found it! Anyone interested in skiing? A new group is in the making. Winnipeg Ski Group. Check it out: http://www.meetup.com...

If you don't own skis, they can be rented at Olympic Ski and Cycle on Portage Avenue. I think it is $13 a day.

I love Fort Whyte and we came at a great time. I was sunny and not too busy when we came. When we left it was cloudy and getting really busy.

  • Rosina

I had an amazing time!!! Loved it! Started with a hearty brunch, then a walk , followed by a snowshoeing trek.

You were saying that you and Jeff saw a large group of deer with a buck. Sounds like a fantastic sight!

Am am close to the restaurant

    January 12, 2014

    • Stacey

I don't have access to the website during the meet up. We were in the restaurant and I didn't see you. I hope you had a good time.

      January 12, 2014

    • Stacey

      Did you come Chris?

      January 12, 2014

  • Stacey

Well, I had a good time. We could not ask for better weather for outdoor activities. The food was yummy and even though a little pricey I didn't mind supporting Fort Whyte. After all I got to ski and snow shoe for free. Both were lots of fun. They also had ice fishing and sledding. Ice skating if you brought your own skates. Some went on hikes down the trails. We seemed to split up into smaller groups after the brunch. I hope you all had a great time too. I feel good after all that exercise and will definitely sleep good tonight. It wasn't crazy busy, so there was lots of free equipment for the public to use.

I am sorry if some missed me. I was at the entrance till 10:15am, then we sat at a round table right near the entrance. We were there till 11:30am and then went out to the activities in the Interpretative Center.

    January 12, 2014

  • Stacey

I will meet you at the entrance for 10 am. After that I may move to the restaurant area, although I don't really feel like eating a lot this morning. Next we will be in the area with the equipment. If you miss meeting up with me at 10am. There is a lot of you that are new, just enjoy yourself. The place is not huge, we are bound to meet up eventually.

Can I bring my 11 year old son he has soc how and will not be enough time to drive him back. .. If not I'll just see you guys there I am interested in the snow shoeing.. And the breakfast ummmm

    January 8, 2014

    • Stacey

Sure, I don't see why not. For this meet up the place is welcoming everyone and people will probably end up going in smaller groups to do the activity they want to do. It should be fine.

      January 8, 2014

    • Stacey

You may even see the Experience Manitoba group. I believe they are going out that day too.

      January 8, 2014

  • marian a.

The weather is looking crazy good for the weekend! Looks like I have others that are whining to go along with me also now so.... I will have to be there with them . I will swing by to say hello to anyone I see from the group and hopefully vise versa : ) We plan to skate out there and get some great pix also.

    January 8, 2014

    • Stacey

I know there are a couple ladies that are bringing their skates and will be out there with you. It appears since there are different things to do, like skiing and snowshoeing as well, we will be in different groups. This meet up is really very informal. I know I will start with breakfast, then go on to other things. Some I know though, want to look into getting the free equipment to use first. Whatever happens, it is sure to be a fun day. At least I think so.

    I have to work

    January 7, 2014

  • Stacey

FYI - I know this group is filled with completely awesome people. Still each member is responsible for their own way to and from meet ups. Sometimes people get to know others and don't mind giving a ride. That is a nice gesture. Still it is important to get to know the people you are inviting in your car and whose car you are getting into. Remember, this site is open to the public. Better safe than sorry.

I will attend if temperatures reasonable...lol!

      January 7, 2014

    • Ingrid G.

      January 7, 2014

  • Chris C.

    Looking forward to it.

    January 7, 2014

  • Stacey

I plan to start my day off with breakfast in the Buffalo Stone Café at 10am, so if you don't meet up with me at the entrance at 10am, that is where you will find me. I look forward to their brunch, the food is usually really good.

    January 4, 2014

    • Stacey

Equipment is free to the public to use this day, but available on a first come basis.

      January 4, 2014

    • Stacey

If you want to skate, and have some, bring them to use!

      January 4, 2014

  • Stacey

FYI - For those of you that wanted to skate on Jan 4 and found it too cold, they do offer skating at Fort Whyte. Although you would have to bring your own skates, I believe.

    January 4, 2014

  • ray

Sure, I could give you a ride, I live close to downtown.

    December 10, 2013

  • Ingrid G.

Can anyone give me a ride to this? I love fort whyte but can't get there via bus. I'm in North Kildonan but I can meet you downtown or by polo park.
