Evening Conditioning Hike in Potrero Open Space, Newbury Park

Evening Conditioning Hike in Potrero Open Space, Newbury Park

Details

Hike will always show "full" because participants are added from waitlist. I'm the slowest on these hikes, so let's not slow the group down any more. This hike will suit you if you can keep up with me or any hiker from list below. Add yourself to waitlist if you've never been late, a "no show," or canceled within 48 hours of start time.

Can you keep up with:

Agi, Alison, Amy, Anna, Bob L, Bob Mc, 2 Christines, Darina, Diane, Elyse, Hallie, Holly, Irma, Jennifer, Karen, Karin, Kelly, Kimo, Krista, Linda, Lyman, Lynn, Mark, Mary, Norma, Paul, Rhonda, 2 Roberts, Ron, Shari, Sara, Scott.

For those of you who have done strenuous trailblazing hikes with me, you've been referred to as Camille's Commandos--here (https://www.meetup.com/calabasasdayhikers/calendar/15540775/)and here (https://www.meetup.com/fun-in-the-sun-Oxnard/calendar/15541766/). So come on, Commandos--here's one for you. Great training for our 12-20 milers.

We'll do a new loop hike--one you've probably never done. It will be a bit of a roller coaster, up and down on the low hills of Potrero Open Space.

No guests or "plus ones" please. For liability reasons we must have everyone join the group, and agree to the standard Meetup "Terms of Service", especially section 6.2, here (https://www.meetup.com/terms/).

Don't show up unless you're on the "I'M GOING" list.

Meeting Place: Will be emailed to participants.

Time: Arrive earlier and have packs on, ready to leave promptly at 6:00PM. If you get there at 6:01PM, we'll be gone.

Estimated Stats: About 5-6 miles, 1,000'.

Terrain: Single track, fireroad.
Level: This hike will suit you if you're usually at the front of the pack and wish the group would go faster.
Bring: Snack, water, first aid kit, camera, trekking poles if you like using them. We return before sunset, but you should always carry a headlamp (I have extras to lend).
Wear: Lug soles, layers, long pants and sleeves for brush and tick protection.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs welcome if you don't mind taking them on brushy trail (ticks). Open Space Rules (http://www.cosf.org/website/html/os-rules.html): Dogs must be restrained by a leash not exceeding six feet in length, and must be under control at all times.

Sunset: 7:39. Twilight: 8:06PM
