NEW in NEWBURY Park: Flag Hill Loop, 6 miles, 1,200'

Flag Hill, from our 7/5/10 hike.

We'll hike up to Flag Hill in Newbury Park where there are great 360 degree views.

No guests or "plus ones" please. For liability reasons we must have everyone join the group, and agree to the standard Meetup "Terms of Service", especially section 6.2, here (https://www.meetup.com/terms/).

Don't show up unless you're on the "I'M GOING" list.

Time: Arrive earlier and have packs on, ready to leave promptly at 2:00PM. If you get there at 2:01PM, we'll be gone.

Estimated Stats: About 6 miles/1,200'.

Terrain: Single track, fireroad, one steep, slippery section.
Pace: Quite brisk.

Level: Depends on your ability. Easy for if you're used to more strenuous hikes; challenging for those who aren't used to this mileage/elevation. If you regularly hike 6 miles/1,200', this will suit you.
Bring: Snacks, water, first aid kit, camera, trekking poles if you like using them.

Wear: Lug soles, layers, long pants and sleeves for brush and tick protection.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs welcome if you don't mind taking them on brushy trail (ticks), and you carry water for your dog.

Open Space Rules (http://www.cosf.org/website/html/os-rules.html): Dogs must be restrained by a leash not exceeding six feet in length, and must be under control at all times.

From 101 Fwy Northbound

Take the Borchard Road 47B exit– go 0.3 miles on exit ramp. Note that the exit before Borchard is Rancho Conejo Blvd, but don’t take that one. It goes north only.

Turn Right on Rancho Conejo Blvd – go 0.1 miles.

Continue on Borchard Road - go 3.4 miles.

Arrive at Dos Vientos Community Center, 4801 Borchard Road, Newbury Park, on the Right.

From 101 Fwy Southbound

Exit #47B/Wendy Drive/Newbury Park – go 0.3 miles on exit ramp.

Turn Left on N Wendy Drive – go 0.8 miles.

Turn Right on Borchard Road - go 2.2 miles.

Arrive at Dos Vientos Community Center,4801 Borchard Road, Newbury Park, on the Right.

Parking: In the parking lot at Dos Vientos Community Park (free)
