Beat the heat near the Beach

Hot day = cool hike. Come and join us to hike close to the Pacific in Deer Creek Canyon. Enjoy sweeping views of the Boney Mountain Wilderness, the ocean, coastline, and islands while we re-discover this little-known area. We've done some exploring here, and now it's time to do more!

Type of Hike: Leader's choice, anything possible.

Terrain: Single track, fire-road.

Start Time: Arrive EARLIER. It's a good idea to plan to be there at 8:15AM so if you get lost or there's traffic, you'll still be on time. We'll leave when everyone arrives and wait until 8:30AM at the latest. If you're lacing up your boots at 8:30AM, we'll be gone.

Estimated Stats: 5-8 miles, 700' - 1,300'. More hiking is an option for those in the mood.

Pace: Moderate. Participants stay behind the leader. No rushing ahead, no tigers or turtles.

Bring: The ten essentials, snacks, lunch, plenty water, trekking poles if you like using them.

Wear: Layers, hiking shoes/boots with lug soles, long pants/sleeves for brush & tick protection. Gaiters: optional.

Dogs: Sorry, no dogs for this one. We may hike in a state park afterwards for those who want additional miles.

Meeting Place: Will be sent to participants. Hike may include a short shuttle.

Leave nothing of value in your vehicle, at this or any other trailhead.
