Are you willing to take a turn hosting a Wednesday hike? You don't need to attend regularly. Come along once in a while if you like. As long as you agree to host about 6 hikes a year, you can join this hike. Be prepared to say what Wednesdays you can host in May on sign up. Hosts don’t need experience, nor do they need to know the trails Maps provided, they may choose the route and get help with map reading. Or leave it to others to choose a route. We have plenty ideas where to go! There’s no chance of getting lost because there's always someone who knows all the trails. This is the perfect opportunity if you'd like to explore and need help with route finding. For the whole month of May, we'll hike inland before it heats up. Our Santa Rosa County Park meeting place is a gateway to Western Plateau and Wildwood Regional Park and we could be hiking in either area.http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/c/4/2/e/event_107570222.jpeg

No "no shows." Don't sign up if you've ever been a "no show" at any Meetup. Your RSVP will be changed to a "no."

Please, no guests. You must be signed up at Fun in the Sun Club Meetup, thereby agreeing to Meetup's Release of Liability (https://www.meetup.com/terms/). Don't show up without signing up here first. Thank you.

Trailblazing? No, we'll be on mapped trails--nothing new here.

Exploratory: Maybe a little bit, following a map, but there's sure to be someone in the group who knows all the trails.

Bushwacking? Yes, some areas can be brushy, but it's mostly well-maintained.

Type of Hike: Leader's choice, anything possible, won't know until we get there.

Terrain: Single track, fire-road.

Start Time: Arrive EARLIER. It's a good idea to be there at 7:45AM so if you get lost or there's traffic, you'll still be on time. We'll leave when everyone arrives and wait until 8:00AM at the latest. If you're lacing up your boots at 8:00AM, we'll be gone.

Estimated Stats: 9-12 miles, 1,300' - 2,100'. We'll finish before 12:30PM.

Pace: We can keep a 3.1 mph moving average, and 2.6mph+ overall average--sometimes considered a brisk/fast pace, but it's all relative. Participants stay behind the leader. No rushing ahead, no tigers or turtles.

Bring: The ten essentials. Trekking poles if you like using them.

Wear: Layers, hiking shoes/boots with lug soles. You may want to consider long pants/sleeves because of ticks.

Dogs: Leashed dogs welcome if they can handle the stats. Please clean up after your dog.

Leave nothing of value in your vehicle, at this or any other trailhead.
