Beat the Heat! Hike next to the Ocean, 8.5 miles

Trailblazing? No, I've hiked all these trails so nothing new here.

Exploratory: No.

Bushwacking? Yes, a small section is brushy/overgrown, but easy.

We'll be hiking on NPS property.

Type of Hike: Out and back the same way.

Terrain: Single track, fire-road.

Start Time: Arrive EARLIER. It's a good idea to be there at 10:15AM so if you get lost or there's traffic, you'll still be on time. We'll leave when everyone arrives and wait until 10:30AM at the latest.

Estimated Stats: 8.5 miles/2,400'.

If anyone wants to add a 4-6 mile hike afterwards--either in Leo Carrillo State Park or another area close-by, please mention it on sign up and we'll do it too.

Pace: Moderate; we'll go at speed of slowest hiker. Fantastic views so plenty time to stop and take pics. No rushing ahead, no tigers or turtles.

Bring: Snack, lunch, water, first aid kit. Trekking poles if you like using them.

Wear: Layers, hiking shoes/boots with lug soles. You may want to consider long pants/sleeves because of ticks.

Dogs: Sorry, no dogs for this one.

Meeting Place: Leo Carrillo State Beach parking lot, on north side of PCH. Parking is about $10-$12, but you can park for free on PCH. Use beach underpass to go under PCH and meet at restrooms in parking lot, next to the underpass. It's right next to Mulholland Hwy.
