Are you willing to take a turn hosting a Women's Workout Hike? You don't need to attend regularly. Come along once in a while if you like. As long as you agree to host about 6 hikes a year, you can join this hike.
Be prepared on sign up to say what Thursdays you can host in June. Hosts don’t need experience, nor do they need to know the trails Maps provided, they may choose the route and get help with map reading. Or leave it to others to choose a route. We have plenty ideas where to go! There’s no chance of getting lost because there's always someone who knows all the trails. This is the perfect opportunity if you'd like to explore and need help with route finding. For the whole month of June, we'll meet at the same trailhead on Thursdays in Newbury Park. We'll explore Boney Mountain State Wilderness or Potrero Open Space. http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/1/3/4/event_117676692.jpeg

No "no shows." Don't sign up if you've ever been a "no show" at any Meetup. Your RSVP will be changed to a "no."
Please, no guests. You must be signed up at Fun in the Sun Club Meetup, thereby agreeing to Meetup's Release of Liability (https://www.meetup.com/terms/). Don't show up without signing up here first. Thank you.
Trailblazing? Exploratory? Bushwacking? Type of Hike? Terrain? Leader's choice, anything possible, won't know until we get there. Be prepared for anything.
Start Time: Arrive EARLIER. It's a good idea to be there at 7:45AM so if you get lost or there's traffic, you'll still be on time. We'll leave when everyone arrives and wait until 8:00AM at the latest. If you're lacing up your boots at 8:00AM, we'll be gone.
Meeting Place: Will be sent to participants by day before hike.
Estimated Stats: 9-12 miles, 1,300' - 2,100'. We'll finish before 12:30PM.
Pace: We can keep a 3.0 mph moving average, and 2.5mph+ overall average--sometimes considered a brisk/fast pace, but it's all relative. Participants stay behind the leader. No rushing ahead, no tigers or turtles.
Bring: The ten essentials. Trekking poles if you like using them.
Wear: Layers, hiking shoes/boots with lug soles. You may want to consider long pants/sleeves because of ticks.
Dogs: Sorry, no dogs since we might go into the Pt. Mugu State Park where no dogs are allowed.
Leave nothing of value in your vehicle, at this or any other trailhead.
