Mother's Day Picnic in Central Park

If you are not visiting your mother or taking your mother out to brunch and/or a show or doing something special with your mother, kindly join me and a bunch of people from multiple meetup groups as we snack on cheese, nuts and fruit (or whatever else you want to bring) and drink wine while chatting it up in Central Park for the day. Should the weather not be in our favor, the picnic will be postponed to a future date.

Now as you may or may not know, consuming wine or any alcoholic beverages in Central Park is prohibited, but it's not like the police are out to get people like us. Still, it would be wise to decanter the wine you bring into another less obvious vessel such as a water bottle or other container.

This is how I see it happening:

Everyone who attends this function will bring a bottle of wine and some cheese and/or some fruit and/or some nuts or berries or whatever else you might like to snack on: carrots, celery, chips, dip, hummus, the options are limitless, but please bring a little extra to share with other picnic-goers. There's no need to break the bank purchasing that 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild. I think you could easily get a bottle of wine + some nice pairing foods for under $20. If you want to spend more, that's up to you.

You are also going to need a towel or blanket to sit on.

If your mother lives nearby or she's in town visiting, please do not hesitate to bring her along. This event is for men too of course and I hope you choose to join us, and if your mother is in town, this would be a lovely thing to do for her.

We will meet on the park-side corner of 5th Avenue and 105th Street as seen here (http://goo.gl/maps/s3lC2) at 1 PM and wait 20-minutes for the rest of our party to arrive at which point I will lead us to a nice grassy area where we can get the picnic started. It will be a combination of shade and sun and it will be off the beaten path, but it will be a beautiful spot for us to enjoy a perfect day in the park together. It will also be within a short walk to a restroom.
