It's that time again... furry bowling time that is!
When Furballs Strike 17 - the LARGEST furry bowling meet on the West Coast - is now set for Saturday, August 23 with check-in beginning at 1pm and bowling starting at 2pm. If you are bowling, please plan to arrive as close to 1pm as possible so we can get everyone checked in and assigned to a lane in a timely fashion.
We will be cutting off the bowling around 4:15pm, which should leave plenty of time for everyone to finish their two games.
PRICING
The bowling fee will be $9, which includes two games, rental shoes, and a prize raffle ticket. Still a great deal, considering two games and shoes on Saturday normally costs about $14.
They also wanted to charge for the party room(s) we are using, but I was able to talk them out of it for at least one more WFS :)
I will be running a $12 special like usual which comes with 5 raffle tickets instead of just one. This will help ensure the prizes for the next meet will be just as spectacular!
PRIZE RAFFLE
This next prize raffle is without a doubt to be the BEST EVER - we got a couple amazing prize donations (Red Octane METAL DDR pad, giant blue dragon tail) and I've already purchased tons of awesome gifts. But if you want to help make it even better, donations are always welcome and those that donate prizes will receive 3 free raffle tickets per prize, up to 9 total (please make sure the value of the prize is at least $10). If you are donating a prize, please contact me in advance so I can determine whether to raffle it off as a main prize or "second chance". Thank you!
The process will remain the same as last time as far as the prize raffle goes, with individual drawings for each prize - that seemed to go very well last time and of course we'll have tons of "second chance" drawings so everyone has a chance to walk out with a nice gift for bowling with us!
DJ KODA TO SPIN AT WFS 17!
We have found a DJ for the meet! Let's welcome Koda - he has more than 7 years' experience DJing for events all over the Pacific Northwest. He's very excited for the opportunity and we're happy to have him!
UPON ARRIVAL
We will be meeting in Kenmore Lanes' huge meeting/banquet room which is just inside the automatic doors on the street side of the complex, near the lowest-numbered lanes. We will have the room stocked with plenty of tables, chairs, fans, and lots of water as well as a changing area for our fursuiters.
I (Kijani) will be there handling check-in. When you pay your bowling fee I will give you a lane assignment – if you want to be on a lane with somebody please let me know that at the time of check-in. We will be doing 5 bowlers per lane. If you need bowling shoes go to the front desk and tell the attendant you're with the FurLife group and your rental will be accounted for.
FOOD
The bowling fee does not include food, but Kenmore Lanes has a full restaurant and bar for us to order from at our leisure. Please do not bring in any outside food or drink as this is against Kenmore's house policies.
Remember we will be going to Old Country Buffet at 5:30 p.m. for dinner.
Note: If you attended the OCB dinner at WFS 16 and were charged $14.95 (should be just about everybody) I will have refunds available at the registration desk at WFS 17. I can also PayPal you the refund if you prefer. Either way, I need to know in advance if you would are entitled to a refund so I have the right amount of money to disperse. Please send me an email, private message, etc.
AFTERWARDS
Just like previous WFS meets, I will be giving out fun awards for high game in “classic” and “fursuit” divisions. We will also be running our prize raffle again with lots of fantastic gifts to give away for bowling with us at WFS! Additional tickets will be sold just prior to the raffle.
We should be finishing up around 5pm, and I have set our dinner reservation at Old Country Buffet (about 15 minutes away) at 5:30 p.m. Also, Kenmore has been a great host for us in the past and was very kind in giving us this great deal and free use of the meeting room so please help clean up after yourselves. Let's try leave the place looking cleaner than when we came in!
Please RSVP as soon as you are reasonably sure you can attend so I can get a more accurate number of bowlers reported to Kenmore Lanes management.
