Teens Learning Code - Making Your First Game

Details

Hey guys! Check out Project Roll-A-Ball (http://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/projects/roll-a-ball) and get as much of it done as you can.

Bring your questions next week!

Do you want to teach your middle school or high school aged kid how to code? Wondering if there are resources in the community or on the web to get started?

Please join us at Fuse every-other Wednesday starting February 18th at 7pm for a multi-week program that will fill your teenager's mind with valuable skills (and not just angst!) by teaching them how to make something they already love: video games. Instructors will provide valuable tutorials on code, art, and inspiration, then kids will get hands-on with code to learn how to make their own games.

Parents should:

  • Bring their teenager(s) - 6th grade through 12th grade
  • Plan on attending for the entirety of the presentation

The curriculum will be based on the Super Awesome Happy Fun Friends (http://www.superawesomehappyfunfriends.org/) (SAHFF), a successful mentoring program for middle schoolers piloted last year by a team of Tri-Cities parents. Please check out the SAHFF game camp curriculum (http://www.superawesomehappyfunfriends.org/introduction/) for a preview of some of the content from last year.

We look forward to seeing a room full of eager young minds, ready to build new things, learn new skills, and make new friends. Thank you!
