This talk will help bridge the gap between SQL Server and Hadoop, using tools such as SQL Server Integration Services and Sqoop to migrate data between a Hadoop cluster and a SQL Server instance, as well as PolyBase to integrate the two like never before.

When it comes to big data lakes, there are multiple approaches to access, analyze and manipulate data in Hadoop. For clients moving from SQL, there are several options and each one has it’s own pros and cons and tradeoffs. Raj will provide an overview of current popular open source SQL on Hadoop options including Hive, SparkSQL, Drill, HAWQ, Splice Machine and Trafodion. We will also discuss considerations for picking the right technology based on business needs.
