Reflections on GF-2045 - International Edition

Meetup at the Skylight Diner, talk about the conference, and eat. We will be joined by some traveling Futurists.

You do not need to have attended the conference to come.

Open to alternative location suggestions if anyone knows of a good place (diner or relatively quiet pub) nearer to Lincoln Center. But the Skylight usually works well and the food is decent enough.

    Dear fellow Futurists!

Thanks for the great time together. So, a lot of you have asked me to post links to my book and all, so here it is:

It's available in Kindle, iBookstore, paperback, hardcover, and... FREE TO READ ONLINE!

Here's an interview I gave the next day in New York on Russia Today:

You might be interested in my last project, a sci-fi novelette called "A Tale of Two Futures"

Great discussion, thanks to everyone for coming. My contribution is, a molecular level design (mine) for a material with an apparent strength-to-weight ratio many orders of magnitude higher than any other known material. 100% carbon atoms, fullerene based. Suitable for large scale engineering, as well as more mundane uses around transportation and construction. Would appreciate feedback.

Possible topics to discuss over food/drink include:

1.) GF2045 foresees the potential future merger of humans and robots ("avatars"). How credible is this vision?

2.) GF2045 is likely to feature summaries of state-of-the-art thinking about (a) human-like robots, (b) BCI (Brain-Computer Interface), (c) understanding mind and consciousness (based in part on recent probing of brain activity at ever-finer scales), (d) different pathways to progress dreams of indefinite lifespans. What were the highlights and lowlights of the associated presentations and demos?

3.) What questions would people most have wanted to ask, if they had been present, to some of the speakers at the event?

4.) Some speakers at the conference believe that mind is deeply linked to quantum effects or other irreducible processes. Will progress with technology and/or philosophy ever resolve these questions?

5.) Controversially, speakers at GF2045 included religious and spiritual leaders. Was that a good decision?

Great to meet so many of you and thanks to hosts! My offering is a PDF report (I wrote) that focuses on impacts of life extension and technological "creative destruction" on our personal financial lives.
This link brings you to a sign up page to download the 40 page (free) PDF. Keep in mind the audience I was speaking to was primarily 40+ "newbies" but I think you may find some ideas of value.
Big request = if you do read it, please give me some solid feedback! In my view -worries about money and livelihood are reasons people may selectively ignore life extension and T+

Thanks and hope to dialogue with you all in/on the "future"

Anybody still in town interested in hanging out tomorrow at the Upright Citizen's Brigade? The writers from Comedy Central will be performing at 8 and it is only $5. Sounds like fun! Maybe hang out a bit before or after and chat? To be safe, you should reserve your tickets ahead of time, if you're going.

I'm here in the back. I think they renovated since last time I was here. They do have beer and wine.
