IGDA Triangle Chapter May Professionals Meeting

Two announcements (5/8/2013):

One, I'm providing my phone number to Meetup members for navigation assistance purposes. While NCSU tends to have an easy-to-navigate campus, if you get turned around, you can call and someone at the meeting will guide you in. [masked])

Two, as was announced by Rogelio not long ago, reps from the NC company JouleBug will be at this month's meeting! If you've ever wanted to ask questions about how to gamify something that seems impossible to gamify, here's your chance: JouleBug specializes in adding game elements to sustainability.

=========================

While attending East Coast Game Conference, I was introduced to the gentleman bringing our local chapter of the International Game Developers' Association back to life, one Rogelio Cardona-Rivera. Considering meeting space is a tough thing to find, and we're always looking to expand our reach, I have decided to take him up on his offer to consolidate resources. As such, I will add any and all future IGDA Triangle meetings to our calendar as they come up.

This particular meeting is for professionals (both members and non). No need to have your membership credentials handy, but having some business cards to share would probably be wise. More details will be added as they become available.

      It's all good, man. It happens. We'll probably be having a regular Meetup event in the next six weeks, so no worries. We'll see you eventually.

    I will try to attend since I will miss the student one this rotation.

    When you mean professionals, does this mean actually working within the video game industry or professional developer regardless of the field? What is the focus of this versus the other meeting with "student" in the title?

      Then I'm more in the student bucket, making games. However, this time around I will not be able to make it to that one, will be at Google I/O, so I'll try and make this one.

    Hello everyone! Just as a heads-up, the (recently minted) newsletter has a bit more details for the monthly meetings. I hope you can make it! The newsletter can be found here: eepurl.com/y0R-z Cheers!

    To add: If memory serves (though I was unable to touch base with her while at ECGC), our very own Laura Angell is also an integral part to the reestablishment of IGDA's NC Triangle chapter.
